Your honeymoon is coming, and you’ve got to decide on a lot of details. While we won’t tell you beach, desert or mountain destination, we will give you a few ideas on how to make the most of your honeymoon. Going on your honeymoon will be a pure blast, if you do a few things right to prepare.
First, plan the details, but don’t set an outline of time. Select a destination, select a hotel, select an airline, don’t set an itinerary for every moment of the trip. This trip is about spending time together, learning a lot about each other, and enjoying every moment. Don’t set a plan that will make both of you go nuts, and anger you if you miss a “scheduled activity”. Feel free to plan a list of things you’d like to do. Golf, Jet ski, go for a horse back ride, visit an art gallery, drop some money in a casino, or just lay on the beach and do absolutely nothing. Wake up each morning and decide what you’d like to do, then let the day wander from there.
Next, decide on whether it is more important to go to the most exotic locale, or if you might save some money on the airfare and enjoy yourself just as much on a South Florida beach. Why spend $1000 a person for airfare, when you could go to Arizona for $250 a person and spend the other $750 a person having fun! Your honeymoon is much more about the experiences than how crazy the destination was. Same advice here regarding your hotel, and many of the other experiences, pick what you can afford, and decide how you want to enjoy the trip. It’s about you as a couple, enjoy the time and play, play, play!
Once you are there, stop by the brochure rack in the hotel lobby, or visit the concierge for ideas on food, museums, places to visit and things to do. Trust me, they will know some hidden gems you’ll never have found on your own and they normally have some ways for you to save money on those excursions. Don’t be afraid to ask for tips, savings, and heaven forbid, coupons.
Now you’re on your honeymoon, you’ve decided what you’re going to do, now sit back and relax! Feel like sleeping in, feel free, feel like staying out all night, enjoy! This is the time for you and your spouse to have a great time, and enjoy each other. Do things you don’t normally do at home. Have fun, get pictures, meet people, enjoy each other! This is your honeymoon, enjoy it.
