The Basics

1. Tell us a little about your business.

I have been a pastor the past 38 years. Four years ago, I stepped out of the church setting to pursue my passion of preparing couple for marriage and conducting weddings as an officiant. I do a lot of pre-marriage coaching utilizing the PREPARE/ENRICH couple inventory tools. I really believe in couples preparing not just for the wedding but for the marriage as well. I do not require the pre-marriage coaching but offer it as an option to all couples.

2. What areas do you serve?

I serve Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia and am willing to travel anywhere in the world to conduct a wedding!

3. What makes you stand out?

I believe that no one attends a wedding to be preached at. The wedding needs to focus on the bride and groom. I feature the story of how they found each other and how their relationship grew. It is common to receive comments like, "Wow, I didn't know a wedding ceremony could be fun and interesting!" In order to do this, I spend time getting to know the couple, listening to their stories. I also provide the couple with all the tools they will need in planning their unique wedding.

4. What price range do you fall in to?

I would say that I fall in to the upper mid-range. Because I bring 38 years of experience in performing wedding ceremonies and a background in cross-cultural ministry, I believe I can honestly say that I have performed ceremonies for every variety of culture and interfaith situations.

5. What is one piece of advice you have for brides in the wedding planning process?

Think beyond the day of your wedding to the marriage itself and how you can make it the greatest, long-lasting experience of your life. So many brides get caught up in planning for the big celebration and when it's over, they find themselves depressed because that one day was such a huge focus that they failed to figure out how to make every day of their marriage a great day.
