1. Tell us a little about your business.
Gertrude's is a full service, fine dining restaurant in the
Baltimore Museum of Art owned by celebrity chef & television
personality John Shields. We are open Tuesday through Sunday for
lunch, brunch and dinner. We host small weddings, brunches and
showers while the restaurant is open, and large events in the
evenings where the entire restaurant is reserved (or "bought out")
for the night.
2. What areas do you serve?
We're located in the Baltimore Museum of Art and serve brides in Maryland and DC.
3. What makes you stand out?
Gertrude's not only has a unique and beautiful environment with a glass wall that overlooks the Baltimore Museum of Art's Sculpture Garden that include the works of Calder and Rodin, but the venue also affords brides the opportunity to enjoy restaurant-quality food at their receptions – so you can kiss that catering hall rubber chicken goodbye. A beautiful, large tent shelters the outdoor terrace, allowing for events to continue even if there is inclement weather. The expertise of chef John Shields with a focus on regional Maryland seafood is an added bonus for brides that may want their out-of-town guests to taste the one-of-a-kind flavors of Maryland foods.
4. What price range do you fall in to?
Facility rental fee is $2500 with a $7000 minimum on food and beverages plus tax and service charges. More info on pricing can be found at www.gertrudesbaltimore.com
5. What is one piece of advice you have for brides in the wedding planning process?
It's important to find vendors that you are comfortable with. One size does not fit all. Do your homework and do research ahead of time to figure out what you want. Ask friends and family for referrals. But most importantly – go with your gut.
