Be Photography

The Basics

1. Tell us a little about your business.

Be Photography LLC is much more than a wedding photography company.  Consisting of one photographer, a videographer and a video editor, our staff regularly provides coverage of major news events in the region for many different media outlets including ZUMA Press, FOX45 Baltimore, MASN, Comcast, and Styling magazine to  name a few.  Our staff’s work is regularly seen on Fox45, MASN, and has recently been published in Haper’s Bazzar, The National Inquirer, The Baltimore Examiner, Seventeen Magazine, and E!.  Our staff is all at the age when our friends are all getting married, and due to countless inquiries of our availability to cover our friends weddings, we decided to offer our wedding services to the public.

Our motto for our packages has been to keep it simple.  We cover all weddings we shoot the exact same way we would any editorial event we are covering Monday-Friday.  The single most important thing to us is our approach to our work.  Thru the years shooting weddings, we have seen videographers and photographers who have been extremely pushy, right in everyone’s faces asking them for shots, or to pose this way or that way.  After-all, this is what most people think of when they think of a wedding photographer.  Our approach couldn’t be further from the “typical” approach.  Since our background is in covering news events, we take the same approach to our weddings, capturing things as they happen as a photojournalist.  You will never see our team interrupt people talking and eating so we can get a “table shot”, and only under the most extreme low light will we ever turn our lights on to aide in our video captures.

Of course, we do provide the typical, traditional family posed wedding photos that usually follow the ceremony, but our main approach leans much more towards capturing events as they unfold.  After-all, we capture events as they unfold everyday for the news.

2. What areas do you serve?

Our team serves the entire world.  Travel charges will apply of course, but we regularly travel for assignments of all kinds and weddings should be no different.  If a bride on the other side of the world likes our style of work, then she should be able to get it.  Travel charges are assessed differently for each wedding, but with-in the greater Baltimore area there is no travel charge.

3. What makes you stand out?

Our approach is what makes us stand out from other wedding photographers.  The successful wedding in our view is that of a bride and groom who are relaxed, having fun, and forget that we are there!  Of course, by its nature, both still photography and video are intrusive medias.  However our approach to our work allows us to capture the best moments in the least intrusive way.

Often on news assignments we are put in situations where we are restricted with access or restricted with the ability to move around freely, because of the threat of interfering with the event itself.  This is the reason why there are often press-pits at events, otherwise every political figure would always have a ton of photographers in his or her face, interrupting the flow of the event, or even worse, interfering at an event where the sanctity and seriousness of the event is compromised.

While this seems like a pretty simple and common sense approach, our history in the wedding industry has shown us that much of our competition does not understand this concept.  We have seen photographers who completely take over the entire wedding day, bringing people reluctantly to each posed photo they want to setup, interrupting conversations and interrupting people eating so they can have a "table shot."  We have also seen cameramen who setup fake scenes in which they have scripts they want acted out.  Sadly, others have been so close to the bride and groom during the ceremony that they are literally walking on the bride's dress.

Situations like these simply appall us.  In our opinion, we are here to cover the events of your day, not to be a part of the day.  Our goal is to cover your wedding while being as discreet as possible.  We do not re-create scenes and ask you to act them out, we do not run around and do "table shots" and we do not ever take photos of anyone while they are eating.  We will try our best to be as invisible as possible throughout the day, only having a strong presence when it is our time to produce the posed photos which typically follow the ceremony.

4. What price range do you fall in to?

Packages start at 1,049 and can go up to 2,699.  All of our packages are customizable, and there are a number of parents albums and add ons you can purchase separately.

5. What is one piece of advice you have for brides in the wedding planning process?

The biggest piece of advice we can offer any bride and groom is to select a photographer who’s style you like.  Do not be fooled by fancy albums, or extra prints, or on the other end of the spectrum, low prices.  The single most important thing is having a photographer who can capture the moment in a style that you like.  Once the photos are captured, you can’t go back and say, I didn’t like this angle, I didn’t like my expression here – you want to make sure your photographer’s style matches yours.  Once you have the photos, you can find someone who can do that fancy album for you, or give you those extra prints.  – But there is no substitution for the way the photos are captured.

In regards to our company, our approach is one of our most valuable assets, as we are in no way your "typical wedding photographers."  If you are looking for a very traditional feel to your wedding video and still photographs, then we are not the right vendor for you.  Please take your time when viewing our gallery and our sample videos.  The most important thing you can select in a videographer or still photographer is a style that you like.  If you appreciate the style you see in the sample images and videos, then you can count on receiving the same type of style and approach on your wedding day.  Even if you do not choose Be Photography as your vendor, make sure you find the right photographer and videographer to match your style.  Your wedding day is a once in a lifetime event, and the decision you make about who captures those memories is an important one.  You can trust the experienced members of our team to be courteous, professional, and do their best on your wedding day.
